The crop protection section of Indian Institute of Vegetable Research upgraded to Crop Protection Division during 2009 in the 11th five year plan with a broad vision of “Ensuring availability of safe vegetables for human health and environment”. Presently, the division comprises of Agricultural Entomology, Plant Pathology, Nematology, Agricultural Chemicals and Agricultural Microbiology actively engaged in basic, strategic and applied research on ecology, biology and management of major insect pests, variability in fungal, plant virus and nematodes affecting mandate vegetable crops of the Institute. The Division is well known for its ecofriendly technology for the management of vegetable insect pests and pathogens.
