ICAR-IIVR, Varanasi Successfully organized MANAGE Sponsored 15 days Certified Farm Advisor (Module – II) training programme for agriculture and extension officers of state agriculture departments

A 15 days Certified Farm Advisor (Module – II) training programme on “Advanced vegetable production technologies for enhancing productivity and nutritional security” sponsored by National Institute of Agricultural Extension Management (MANAGE), Hyderabad was organized at ICAR-Indian Institute of Vegetable Research (IIVR), Varanasi from 27th November to 11th December. There were total 18 participants from 5 different states (Kerala -7, Himachal Pradesh-4, Jammu & Kashmir-4, Jharkhand -2, Andhra Pradesh -1) working as agriculture and extension officers in their respective state agriculture departments. Training programme covered both theory and practical aspects of various advanced production technologies in vegetables like Organic vegetable production, protected cultivation, tissue culture, Integrated nutrient management, Integrated pest and disease management, hybrid vegetable seed production, processing and value addition in vegetables, vegetable marketing options etc. covering wide range of vegetable crops like tomato, capsicum, cole crops, melons, gourds, vegetable pea & cowpea, chilly, leafy vegetables and other underutilized vegetables. Field visits were also arranged to Seth Dheen Dhayal Jalan organic farm, Dhagmagpur, Institute of Agricultural Sciences, Banaras Hindu University (BHU) and National Seed Research & Training Centre (NSRTC), Varanasi.
