12 days training programme on “Principles and Production Techniques of Hybrid Seeds in Vegetables”

ICAR sponsored 12 days training programme on Principles and Production Techniques of Hybrid Seeds in VegetablesfromSeptember 12-23, 2017 was inaugurated by Dr. AK Vyas, ADG (HRM), ICAR, New Delhi at ICAR-Indian Institute of Vegetable Research, Varanasi who highlighted its importance and  utility of different training programme running under ICAR for capacity building. He emphasized that HRM unit at ICAR has been established for guiding and supporting the institutes for effective and timely implementation of training programme for all categories of staff including technical and supporting.

A total of 18 technical personnel working in different ICAR Institutes/ SAUs/ CAUs/ KVKs from 14 different states including UP, MP, Assam, Odisha, J&K, New Delhi and Andra Pradesh participated in this training programme. A series of lectures (28) and practical sessions (13) on various aspects such as development and maintenance of hybrids, principle and practices of hybrid seed production in various vegetables, seed processing, seed storage, role of public and private sector in hybrids etc. were covered. A manual was also compiled, which is the compilation of lectures delivered and practical, demonstrated by various experts during this training programme, and distributed among the trainees for their future reference. Dr. B. Singh, Director, ICAR-IIVR graced the valedictoryfunction as the chair person. He emphasized on importance of hybrid seeds for enhancing the vegetable productivity. The Course Director of this training programme was Dr. B. Singh, Director, ICAR-IIVR, while Dr. Neeraj Singh and Dr. Sudhakar Pandey coordinating the programme. Dr. Shubhadeep Roy, Mr. Nakul Gupta and Mr. Keshav Kant Gautam Co-coordinated the Training programme.
