The Division of Vegetable Production was carved into with the aim to devise location-specific tailor-made technologies for sustainable production by undertaking basic and strategic research for enhancing productivity of vegetable crops and their utilization or value addition thereof. The major research activities encompasses protected cultivation and off-season production of high value crops, development of integrated nutrient management package, designing technologies for improving resource/ input use efficiency, ameliorating abiotic stresses through grafting, standardization of eco-friendly means of cultivation such as organic farming, conservation agriculture etc. The Division is instrumental behind the development of many farmers-friendly technologies. In addition, it is effectively promoting Institute’s technologies and implementing many schemes successfully across several districts, through intensive extension activities, for the upliftment of socio-economic status of vegetable growers. The Division is equipped necessary research facilities comprising laboratories and protected structures for carrying out novel research on vegetable crops
